Text Spacing

Text spacing

Ensure that text maintains readability when users adjust text spacing settings, including line height, paragraph spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing. This flexibility helps users with different reading needs.

Acceptance Criteria

Line Height: At least 1.5 times the font size.

Paragraph Spacing: At least 2 times the font size.

Letter Spacing: At least 0.12 times the font size.

Word Spacing: At least 0.16 times the font size.

No Loss of Content: Content or functionality must not be lost when users adjust these settings.

Examples

• Increasing line height to 1.5 times the font size without text overlapping or being cut off.

• Adjusting paragraph spacing to twice the font size while maintaining content readability.

Exceptions

• Languages or scripts that do not use these specific text style properties can conform using the properties available in that language or script.

Tips

• Test adjustments with different text spacing settings to ensure that content remains accessible.

• Follow local guidance for text spacing adjustments if your language has specific conventions.

How to test?

1. Manual Adjustment: Change text spacing settings in your browser or text editor and verify that content is not lost or overlapped.

2. Accessibility Tools: Use tools or extensions that simulate text spacing changes to ensure compliance.

3. User Testing: Conduct usability testing with individuals who require text spacing adjustments to confirm that content remains functional and readable.
